Custom Folder - How do I go about it?

Forgive me if this is is in the wrong place, but I've never even considered this kind of thing previously. How do I go about designing a custom knife, finding a maker, and getting quotes and stuff like that on this forum? I guess specifically I'm looking to have something akin to the ZT 0454 with a few modifications built. I just have no idea where to even begin with something like this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That is where makers and craftsman can showcase their wares and services. Looking through will give you an idea of who can do what.

If you have a clear idea of what you want done, draw up some sketches and post all your ideas in a thread in the following forum. Hopefully someone willing will contact you.

I doubt many people are going to be able to build you a ZT0454. You can probably get a long, thin liner lock with carbon fiber scales but not many people are doing linerless carbon fiber frames with ti sub frame locks.

Alan Foults is one of the few people I know of that will build you anything you want.
 
There are many steps you can take to buy one:

1) take a long look at your kids and decide which one will fetch the most on the black market.
(Allow extra time to make kids, if needed)

2) Loudly exclaim "I tell you what, I'd sell my soul for a custom 454!" while stomping the ground for emphasis.

3) Conspire with a science teacher and/or a street punk to manufacture whatever narcotic is popular in your area.

4) find out where a talented knife maker lives. Wait outside his house while a friend waits nearby in a car. When he comes out, have your friend drive really fast at him, so you can push him out of the way and put him in your debt. (Plus, he'll probably have a custom in his pocket, so it won't be a loss if you're a slow runner or your buddy has a lead foot.)
 
Actually the design i'm going for is less and less like a 0454 the more I think about it. I love the profile of it, but definitely don't like that it doesn't have liners. that's one thing that really bothers me about the knife. That said, I guess I'll just keep an eye on the customs forum and see what piques my interest. Maybe I'll find a maker that can do what I'm looking for. Thanks for the start guys!
