Can anyone recommend some custom folders that have a thumb stud / thumb hole and bearing system? Or, just a smooth fast action. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Andrew Demko just released the AD20 with a Shark lock a couple weeks ago. It is very smooth, fidget friendly, and incredibly strong. The customs are $825 I think and the MG(machine ground) blades are $425.

He also developed the Triad lock for the AD10, and the Scorpion lock on the AD15. You can't go wrong with any of his designs.

What's your definition of custom? I'd suggest any of Chris Reeves' folders, like my Sebbie 21.

Custom or semi custom. Was looking at CKF evolution and just looking for something similar action wise.

Brian Tighe, Matt Bailey, Alan Davis...

In the custom world all those things are quite readily available on just about any makers model.

The real question is how much are you willing to spend?

Guys that may have spots open who I would recommend. All are on Instagram. All do really nice work.

Mark Roe
Keanison knives
Dan Koert
Taryn Collins (Wind River Wild)
Mark Varga
Sean O'Hare
Jamie Simeon
KC Gray
Jesse Jarosz

You have a lot to choose from in that range. I would trust anything from Jon Graham or Eric Ochs. They make non-flippers sometimes. Dalibor and Jason Guthrie only make non-flippers last time I checked. They're on washers but they have that smooth action you're after. Rogovets make some models with Spyderholes and bearings. I'm not the biggest Pena fan but his knives are built very well. Rod Olson if you're after a button lock. I've also had some great stuff from McNees, Gavko, Nova, Grimsmo, Kramer, Demko. The list goes on and I'm probably forgetting someone but that's what comes to mind right now. Here's a McNees Tanjun

What style of folder are you interested in?

Chuck Gedraitis does very nice work priced in the middle of your range. Kirby Lambert, Matt Diskin, Andre Thorburn, Cheburkov, Patrick Doyle, and Tobin Smith are also great options to check out.

I have an old spear point from Kirby Lambert. It isn’t smooth at all unfortunately. I like his style minus the recurve blades. Currently carrying a Shirogorov F3 and like that style too. Pokey slicing blades.

The CKF Evolution looks a bit like a Homer Zhu Hero maybe?
He makes customs at great prices.
I've been procrastinating buying one for like a year.:(

It is pretty similar. Never heard of the maker. Very nice!

The Evolution is from Rotten Design (Jon Sorensen). Damn near impossible to get a custom from him.
The knife actually takes a whole lot of design cues from Strider knives SnG & SMF models.
Even though he is quite the polarizing figure here, I should mention that there are quite a few Mick Strider customs out there that may catch your fancy. Especially if you love the Evolution design
