Custom Fred Perrin La Griffe...

Hi all.

I was actually thinking of getting a custom Bowie La Griffe, and maybe also a custom spearpoint La Griffe, but both with skeletonized handles. The thin profile and overall "small print" is very important to me.

However, if you check Larry's BladeArt site, he offers beautiful customs, and he has run out of bowie La Griffes. Also, he doesn't offer skeletonized handled La Griffes except for the G-10 version.

So, NOW I am wondering:

1) Do I contact Larry at BladeArt, Laci Szabo at his website, or Fred Perrin himself for the skeletonized Bowie and/or spearpoint La Griffe?

2) Does the "all G-10 constructed" version actually work well as a knife? Is this material good for doing limited cutting and sharpening?

Thanks!

Flood, contact Larry. He'll fix you right up. BTW, Laci and Larry are very good friends, and both of them are good friends with Fred. Larry can get you exactly what you want.

To answer your other question, no, G-10 doesn't work well as a knife. G-10 knives are intended to be snuck into places where knives are prohibited. Getting caught with one with a plastic sheath that is all non-magnetic, too, puts you in deep, deep doo-doo without much of a leg to stand on. They are the civilian version of a prison shiv. G-10 knives are meant to be used offensively or defensively in a last ditch sort of effort. They have zero use as utility tools.
