Custom Future pt. I : Your Three Favorite Knives and Why.

This is the first post in a series I hope to use to get a better idea of what to look at as I try to make my first foray into knifemaking and hopefully one day, custom knife making for others. I'm looking for the community's opinions on what they look for when buying a knife of any description, in order to get a better idea of what to shoot for in my quest to make the greatest knives I can.

I'm trying to get an idea of what to look toward as a springboard for any custom knives I may make, so please guys, list your three favorite knives and why they are your favorite, and spare no details! I know I'll likely get a different answer with each post, but I'm really looking for indicators in overall design, materials, and function than a particular knife to use as a template. I'm really looking for why your most loved knife designs are your favorite, and what they do that makes them stand above the rest.
