Hey I realize this isnt directly an ESEE related questions but I have come to love the ESEE community and I figure the best answer I get will likely be here. I have an Fox Knives FKMD Predator II folder that came with Forprene handles, and I love the knife but can't say I like the handles. I was wondering if anyone had any experience getting custom handles made, or maybe buying G-10 blanks and forming my own handles. I am not sure if any special tools are needed for working G-10 as I have never worked with it myself. Any information you guys could provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks as always. BTW my new ESEE-3P will be here today! All I need is a 5 and a 6 now and Ill have the whole set! Now I just need more hands to use them all simultaneously. I guess while Im at it can anyone tell me the exact differences between the ESEE-3mil and the ESEE-3? I couldn't seem to find any aside from maybe the overall length. Thanks.

only differences in the 3 mil and regular 3 is that the 3 mil has canvas micarta scales and a sharpend glass breaker on the pomel. blade length and everything else is exactly the same.

Canvas compared to the linen on the ESEE-3? And the ESEE-3 that I ordered allegedly has the glass breaker pommel, guess Ill have to wait and see which I got. Or is one sharpened vs one being not sharpened but still a glass breaker point.

the regular 3 has the linen micarta and a semi pointed pomel, then there is the rounded pomel model as well. the mil version just has it ground to a point.

Awesome thanks, gave me all the information I needed to know on the 3 and 3 mil.

If you're interested in working G10...

1) You'll need a coping saw or scroll saw to cut a blank. Make sure you cut it a little large.
2) You can shape the stuff using some files.
3) Sanding will smooth it down for you.
4) A bench grinder with buffing pad can get you slick and shiny if you like.

You'll need a drill if you want pins or screws. Epoxy is good to glue the scales on.

Lastly and MOST IMPORTANTLY the dust is TOXIC dont get it in your lungs. Wear a respirator!

Its a fun project. Did my Izula

Here's a couple more shots. The handles are asymmetric so they look goofy, but I love the way it handles. Also you may note the two side don't line up the same... I'll figure out a better way to line them up next run (probably on an Izy II.)

Thank you much, jumpmonkey. I'm not seeing any fastners - are you relying on glue to secure the scales? If so, epoxy or some other adhesive ?
