This is my first attempt at custom grips for any knife, so it's been an interesting learning process. Today, I learned that need a counter-sink bit to get the inner and outer holes to line up correctly. Anyway, this is a 3/8" walnut / black dymondwood laminate sheet that I started with. I've also got some green micarta to work with, but figured I'd mess up on the one that I'm not confident that I'll keep on there!

I think I'm going to try to find different hardware, though. The stock stainless hardware isn't bad, but I'd like to find something a little different for the nut side of it. I considered pinning it, but since I'm not sure I want to keep it on here, I'll wait on that idea.

Congrats on getting the ten! Looking good so far, can't wait to see how she turns out.

Well, it's still pretty rough and I need to figure out what hardware I want to use on it. It's been fun, but there are a lot of things I'll do differently for the next set I make. The biggest thing is that I definitely need a 1x30 or 1x42 belt sander.

Word to the wise on the belt sander. It REALLY helps having a sander with good belt tracking. I've got a couple cheapies from Harbor Freight, and the nicer one from woodcraft is really worth it.

I like having one where I can sand on the curve of the sander as well; helps with detail work.
