Custom Griptilian Scales?

Hi guys,

I have a Doug Ritter RSK MKI and am extremely happy with it apart from the grips.

After a fair bit of searching and reading up i've found 2 companies that produce custom scales for this knife.

#1 Wilkins
They have have no grips in stock for the full sized Griptilian (the same body) and do not know if or when they will be producing more.

#2 Cuscadi (Custom Scales Division)
They have none in stock for the full sized Griptilian, but i'm told they can make to order.
To be honest though the ones i've seen so far are a bit to "angled" for my liking though.

So could anyone please point me towards any other company that produces and has in-stock custom scales for the Ritter/Griptilian?

Failing that does anyone know if the Griptilian Gold scales (551BK-101) feel any better than the stock Griptilian scales?
If so does anyone kniw if they are available as a separate purchase?

Cheers
Mark

Should also add, are there any recommended custom scale manufacturers that will do one-offs for folders?

Cheers

TUFFTHUMBZ! He's a frequent forum poster, but also check out his youtube channel, he does insane work.

Best,

I ordered from CSD a couple of weeks ago and it has been a great experience. Luke responds to messages immediately and it very easy to work with. I haven't gotten my scales yet, but have no doubt that they will be completely to my satisfaction. I recommend doing business with them!

Hi Trev,

Thanks for the reply.
Have to agree looking at some of his work on the vids and pics he really is a true artist.

Problem is i'm in Greece and he will require the knife to make the scales.
By the time the knife has shipped to the USA and back it'll pretty much double the price of the scales.

So ideally i would be able to buy some pre-made scales that i can order and fit myself.

Cheers

Just to confirm this is Cuscadi right?

Can i ask, did you order a custom set of scales or choose apre-made set from the site?
Is you knife also a Griptillian?

The reason i ask is the site is in German and i cannot find any full sized Griptillian scales in the on-line store section.

Yes it's Cuscadi and if you use google, there should be a button at the top that can easily translate the webpage. I have a mini grip and I ordered something custom. Send them an email. Luke is quick to respond in English and will get you what you need if he can. The whole process from initial contact to receipt of scales was about 3 weeks. Here is a pic of my mini grip with aero carbon fiber with an aramid layer on top. The clip is from STRs Backyard knives. I love the knife so much more now that it doesn't have the cheesy plastic body. Had to destroy the screws to get them out of the other scales so I am waiting on new screws.

Thanks for that

Knife looks fantastic :applause:

Placed an order around 1 week ago for CF Micarta scales, only worry i had was because i use my knives a fair bit i didn't want scales with a lot of right angles and sharp edges, so i asked if i could have them in a style that's more rounded.

I'll stick up a few pics when they're ready.

Thought about ordering some anodised screws for when the new scales arrive, what size screws did you order?

Hi Beglitched. I'm very new to the Forum. My first post in fact.
I'm looking at getting a Native 5 and swapping the scales for this very same hybrid aramid. By chance I joined the forum and found your pics.
I was looking at Cuscadi's site and their version on a ZT550 looks a lot darker than yours. Was this something you requested or is the silver more true to life?
My choice now is whether go with a pimped Native 5 or a Sage 1. A mini grip or sequel will probably follow along soon after lol.
Many thanks. Steve.
