i love my bm 710, but the handle slabs are less than perfect. does anyone have any pics of one they have customized?

Chase Axinn at chaxknives does excellent work and is a great person to deal with

Here's mine... Mixed liners, axis bolt from a regular 710D2. Blade is from a 710-801. Carbon fiber slab handles, polished the pivot and clip to a mirror finish, custom barrel spacers.

dragonplate.com - 3/32" thick matte finish is an almost perfect thickness match for the original scales.

Re-read your question - I made them. Fairly easy to do w/ a drill press, sander, and router - especially starting w/ the correct thickness material.

You guys just made me think of something.

I'd kill to get my hands on one of the LE 710's Benchmade put out in the brass/wood flavor...

I just emailed CHAX about how much it would cost to make me some handles like that for my 710, and polish my blade...that way I have the looks without the cost...maybe.

And on the off chance someone doesn't know what I'm talking about, here:

i have a 710 prototype with black anodized alloy handles which i have always preffered to the G10, i just like the way it looks nothing wrong with the G10.

I’ve been making a lot of wood scales for my folders. I’ll upgrade my membership over the weekend and post some pic’s. 2 tricks; 1) have a drill press (if you don’t have a drill press, having done it with a hand drill I can’t recommend doing it) 2) I think that of the natural woods Cocobolo is the easiest to work with (its closer in density and behavior to plastic) bar that I’d order some dymondwood from TexasKnifemakers supply or some other vendor. Show us the results one way or the other. I have a Benchmade 913 on my hip now with birdseye maple, a Zing at home with cocobolo, a cane machete in the vise with a hidden tang in walnut that I will shape and finish over the weekend.
Good luck.
