I have a knife that my fiance bought me about two-years-ago at the Arizona Renaissance Festival. No idea what kind of steel it is, she says it cost her about $80. However, whatever it is doesn't particularly matter to me because it has high sentimental value. She was really worried that I might not like it etc. The problem is, the two spikes on the bottom of the knife make it impossible for my large hands to hold at all. So I was thinking of getting someone to grind them off and then make a handle for the knife itself. The blade is about 4 inches, and the "handle" is about 3 ½ inches. Seems like it would make a nice little boot knife, but I'd have to get a sheath made for it as well.

So as the title suggests, what kind of handle would you guys recommend? I'm not particularly into the FRN "plastic" feel. How much would a job like this cost? (More than the knife I'm sure lol)

Here's the knife:

I think she picked out a beautiful little knife and would love to be able to give it a purpose.

Anyone with a grinder and sander can do it.
I (personally) would drill some holes for some paracord wrap, although you may choose otherwise.

I do like the paracord idea, but the handle being 3 and a half inches just makes the overall grip too small. I'd like a handle made for it that could extend that a bit to like 4 inches, maybe 4 and a half.

In case you're interested that knife is made by a company called sabersmith....great throwing knife!

Seems terribly unpractical but I know it would make her happy to see it have a handle and see me use it. She's asked why I never use it for anything I've told her those spikes on the bottom easily cut my hand.

Hence, why I'm looking to get a grind done and a handle made for it. Thanks for the heads up on the company. Seems like they at least use decent steel in all of their stuff.
