Custom Handle Question

Im looking for a Blade Forum member to make a custom tomahawk handle for me. I would like to hear recommendations. It would be awesome if you could include a link to their work. I've seen a few offering their services in the exchange section but I'd love to hear reviews.

Is there someone here that's done some really nice work for you? Or maybe you've seen some awesome examples of custom handle work?

looking to use desert ironwood or curly maple for a display piece.

Custom handle for a "tomahawk"? These are derivatives of 'bottom-rung trade goods' and to this very day still retain (fashion-wise?) those convenient round eyes. Meaning anything and everything out there with some bark and a branch on it will work as a handle. What I suspect you want to find is a nice blank and then to persuade someone with a wood lathe to turn it into something pretty for you.
If it's use and durability you want you'll stay well clear of decorative-grade stuff (desert ironwood/curly maple/birds-eye figure) unless it so happens that the new-fangled tomahawks you're familiar with already have metal or central shafts on to which are merely placed 'pretty' scales.

Sorry; didn't mean to be so sarcastic. Willing, experienced and competent wood lathe operator is what you want and best off for you is to offer to supply a model (or picture rendition and dimensions) and the blank.
 
Try Donelson Custom Muzzleloaders on goggle and talk to John. He makes some nice custom handles. He is making me one at this time.. KT
