Hello everyone. First I want to say I’m new to this forum so I hope I’m posting in the right section and thank you for having me.

I just bought a machete which did not come with a handle so I will be putting one on after I have the sheath made. The blade is very tip heavy and want to balance it out more with the handle. Would a steel liner work for this? Or am I just asking for trouble? Any other ideas?

Thank you for your insight and knowledge.

i do not think steel liners would make enough weight difference to counterbalance it. besides, machetes are typically thin steel, and they need that forward weight for momentum and impetus. you would actually hamper its performance by balancing it out.

That’s for the help. I was unsure how much it would help. Compared to my traditional machete I had, this new one is much thicker steel. It’s shaped like a kukri but has a flat spine. I doubt I could actually balance it nor do I want to. Just make it more manageable for chopping.
