I was wondering if any of you guys have gotten a custom sheath made for your HEST. I like the one that comes with it just that its a little bigger than I would want for pocket carry.

I've had a few requests for them but I haven't tried any just yet.

I normally don't make anything for the blades that come with a kydex sheath from the factory but I can see the need in this instance.

I want to carry my HEST horizontally on the left side, to be drawn with the right hand. The included sheath is good but not very comfortable with the tek locks digging in to your leg.

This knife is so new I doubt many would have one in house. I would prefer not to have to be without my new favorite knife. Although I am considering getting another On Scene Tactical sheath. I have one for my Rat 3 and it is nice. I think he uses concealex, not kydex. I have no idea what the difference is.

Anyway, I will post pics if I get one.

maybe you should just use some paracord to fasten it to your belt?.. anyway you should definitely post some pics if you get one

I have tried the paracord mount but Find it loosens off over time, and the stock sheath is a touch wider than I like. I have a sheath on order from OST. I will post pics when I get in a few weeks.

yea the width is the only problem I have with the sheath. cant wait to see how that sheath turns out.

I find the slightly wide sheath adds some stability sitting upright in a pocket or inside the waistband.

I would agree. I prefer to carry horizontally on my belt, in front by my left hip. So the wide sheath digs in while seated. I find it handy to have an extra sheath anyway. I can mount it to a pack or in a bag, and easily transfer my knife for different tasks.

Shipped my HEST out today to get fitted for his new suit. Should be back in a couple of weeks. Pics to follow:D

I'am thinking about add something in the Handle of H.E.S.T. Any ideas on this
looking for some helpful ideas????? Thanks Mainewoods:confused:

Depends on what you do with your knife. If you keep it in your truck put a couple of twenties for gas. If you take into the woods put in a magnesium bar (the RAT one fits perfectly) if you travel overseas put stuff in it you don't want people to find. I think the single most important carry is a sharpening stone or steel, followed by a magnesium scraper and dry tinder. In an urban environment it might be money and in a wilderness environment it might be fish hooks, line and a tiny compass.

That's the point though. Pack what you might need, doesn't mind getting damp and will make your day a whole lot better when you dig it out!

here is a picture.

there is also a new treath about the new hest sheath

thanks wookie

Don't use teklocks, I agree, high profile and they tend to dig. You can wrap your sheath for horizontal carry and it stays very firm that way. I have pictures I'll upload later-it's very easy, super low profile and you can't feel it at all.
