Welcome to the Hinderer Forum. No one here can say whether the cost of a custom knife is worth it to you or not. Me personally, the Hinderer customs are awesome but so are the ones with production ground blades, I own both and would recommend them to any knife aficionado.

FYI - it is poor form to discuss secondary market pricing in this forum.

I did not see your post before the edit and RDA has already mentioned that secondary price is not a topic we discuss here.

But I will say this, it is a personal and introspective decision. What may be right for "me" might not be right for "that guy" or "you", etc..

To me its worth it because you get a unique knife, every hand ground custom is a little different because its hand made by Rick. The special grinds are also making the knife stand out from the regular production grinds, but indeed everybody has to decide that for himself. Its like comparing a print to a real painting its shows the same image but its not the same thing. A Casio will read time just as good or maybe better than a handmade watch, it all depends on what you want.

Yes..

just curious.. any owners of Rick's customs actually use them for EDC tasks? or more for keepsake, with them costing like 4-5 times of their production counterparts?

also, mainly what differs them from regular productions? besides the DLC coating, cool cool clips, different grind.. ? balde material is the same rite?

thanx all for the patience..:)

If I ever score a Spearpoint 24 Flipper, it for sure, will be a user.

What makes a custom different from a production....Rick builds them, gets very creative, they are one-of-a-kind, hands-on items with a huge amount of attention by Rick, himself.
They are deemed custom, most are hollow ground and all are a useful custom knife. I say that because you can use them as you would any Hinderer XM.
Some custom knives are pretty, these are robust, quality tools that are easily up for tasks you'd apply to any trusted folding knife.

well.. asking only cos they cost soo soo much, yet looks like it begs to be used hard.. very much unlike some knifes like a CRK (inlays), which seems like they mind being a safe queen.. not sure if i m making sense here..

The Hinderer crew builds both productions and customs, the build and attention to detail is the same regardless of which blade is inserted hence why either version is top notch. The only difference is that Rick custom grinds the blade on the customs.

Not entirely accurate, but I'm not here to argue. Yes, attention to detail on productions is stellar, but the customs get anodized this, and hand polished that, so there is certainly more attention. Similar attention is given to show releases as well.
