So playing around with leather for the first time today, After I was done with my first sheath I had a 4x3" piece of leather trim left over so I decided to make a ring. Ive seen metal and wood rings before, so why not leather? I cut the strip about 1cm wide, 4 in long. Then I wrapped it around my finger and marked where it needed to be cut. I left 1 extra inch for gluing though, to insure a good bond. Next I glued it up with all purpose quick setting epoxy, and once that was set, I gave the outside of the ring a good coating in epoxy. Next I heated up some red with a bit of white candle wax and gave it 2 coats of wax, to both protect and stiffen it up. When the wax was dry enough to touch, I put it on my finger to give it a little bit of "custom molding". It fits my finger perfectly now, and It was fairly easy to make. Without further ado, some blurry pics. The leather below the ring in the first pic is what it is made from, perhaps 1/8" thick, maby a little thinner. What do you guys think?
