I hope it is ok to post this thread here.

Anyone ever remove an official inlay to replace it with something custom? If so what did you do and how did you do it?

I think I read that CRK uses special industrial tape to attach them. Anybody know?

Btw, if you have done this pics would be appreciated. :)

I had Berry H do an inlay switch many years ago, an annual that he changed over to carbon fiber. I stupidly sold the knife a while back, I need to search for a picture.

Did I hear my name? LOL! I used a heat gun on medium heat and an exacto knife tip to lift up the inlay from the scale. Once you get the hang of it, its pretty easy. And then I used the original inlay as a template to make a new inlay. I used to be a luthier before I got into doing knife work, so I am used to doing small scale, meticulous work. All my previous work (don't do it anymore) I used woodworking tools. Nothing more advanced then a drill press and assorted sanders and a Dremel. Most of my work used to be hosted on a picture hosting site--all gone now:(. If I can find any old pics, I will post them up.
