Since all the Izula protos are long gone, and I always wanted one of those too, I finally got a copy, custom made,
the cut outs in the handle are not perfect, there are some irregular angles, and some marks of the cutting process, which was done with dremels and hell knows what else :D
The design of the Izula is one of the best out there, so I had to have this one too,
for some info, the steel is some HSS, don't know which type exactly, the thickness is 5mm, and the coating is some kind of oxidation, done with ferric chloride
Hope y'all like it

That is one mean lookin little blade.
I like it a lot, but being so thick, do you think it will still be a decent slicer?
Looks stout as all get out!

Nice little pry bar you got there!

That looks like the little bro to the 5. It could be a SERE edition Izula...made for cutting out of smaller planes.:D

Looks like a pretty good reproduction. That sheath looks really, really nice.

For reference, here's my proto beside a regular production Izula.

Holy thick Izula batman! Cool blade. Does it feel much heavier than the production Izzy? It looks like the thickness of the -4 but shape of the Izula. Can I get one the thickness of the -5 in the Izzy format?

Good thing ESEE doesn't act like Dick Swan.... (#17 till I die!)

that one was really funny :D

Looks good. Who did you have make it for you?

A knifemaker from Romania

That looks fantastic. Can you be more specific on the dimensions?

what exactly do you want to know ? I'm happy to answer to the best I can
It follows the Izula lines almost to perfection, having the same overall size, the difference being the 5mm thickness, the sabre grind and the cutouts which are not as well defined, and the width of the handle cut is somewhat smaller than the Izula,
and of course it is a little heavier, but not too much

I'm glad my proto copy is liked over here, thanks

What is the story with the original Izula Protos? How many are floating around out there?

If I´m not wrong, what I understand from reactions by Jeff and Mike... You guys from Esee are impressed by the copy of one of your knives? Wow, that´s an attitude I have probably never seen ! I´m just amazed, I believe 99.99% of producers of knives or anything would be pissed off :D.

Sheath is hard leather, with those two removable leather flaps , that are more flexible and soft
He wanted to make me a plastic one if I didn't like this one, but I sure did
those are photos by the maker:
