Just got this bad boy in the mail today. It wasnt supposed to be here until tuesday so I was very surprised when I saw the box. As the titles states this is a custom knife factory MORRF designed by Evgeniy Muan. From the moment I saw these I was intrigued by the design. it was the first time I had seen a ful flat grind that I absolutely loved from the start. To me it screamed "user" but was incredibly attractive. Many times I feel utility is sacrificed for looks or on the flip side looks are sacrificed for the sake of utility. The knife seemed small in videos and pictures but much to my relief fills the hand very well. The shape of the handle while I felt attractive I wasnt sure would feel good in the hand. This was a serious case of looks being incredibly deceiving. To be honest this knife feels better in my hand than any other folder I have owned. It just feels right. And the ramp on the blade for your thumb just feels so right. This knife I hadnt intended on having go in my pocket. I have a ton of users but this thing just begs to cut things. The blade shape I find incredibly useful for all types of cutting tasks as its all belly. It does have a fairly thin and delicate tip so while I feel it would be a great EDC knife it is far from what I would call a hard user. To me the words "finesse" and "classy" come to mind.

FIT and FINISH: The knife has that look of a toxified knife but make no mistake each element to that look is very refined and I found the finishing to be very acceptable and for me those words dont come lightly as its the finishing I find most lacking in knives. Very nice touches are the exposed ends of the stop pins. They have been rounded and satin finished nicely. Many times this is an area of a knife that NEVER gets any attention. the screws look to be of very high quality and nicely polished. The blade features a very well done flat grind and very nicely done grooves milled into both sides of the blade. They are very refined and while not functional I feel are quite attractive. The ONLY area I think that could have used a little more work is the pivot. I like the idea but the milling and finishing work on it is not up to the standards set by the rest of the knife. Fortunately with some elbow grease, sandpaper and scotchbrite I will be able to put the final touches on that and bring it to the level of the rest of knife. But that seriously is my only criticism aesthetically. The rest is quite good. My only other concern is the pouch that comes with it. For some reason someone wrote the M36 on it in ball point pen which isnt very attractive and I dont feel necessary as it comes in a labeled bag. But Im just glad it comes with a pouch to begin with.

ACTION: This knife flips like how I feel flippers should flip. The detent is perfect. There is 0 wiggle to the blade in the closed position. The detent is snappy and firm yet not so firm that you feel its at the risk of ripping the ball out. Its fast and smooth. The blade on my example does not fall back into the handle by itself but this does not bother me. I would take the stronger detent over the guillotine effect any day. There is no lock stick and the lockup is early but secure. No lock flex or other questionable performance issues with the operation. The flipper I absolutely love. its very comfortable and large enought to facilitate any prefered style of opening one might be accustomed to. One thing I was surprised about is how thin and slender this knife is. Both sides of the handle are thin. But while the whole knife is on a serious diet it is very very sturdy. No flex to either side and just very solid despite the thin profile. Blade centering is spot on. No blade play in any direction. Very nicely sharpened I might add.

OVERALL: Well I have to say I am very impressed. Initially I had suspected that these knives may not have had much work done to them that wasnt being done in china but now I am not so sure. It is so refined that It seems pretty obvious extra attention to detail is being paid to them. I have a lot of chinese knives and while the quality is usually very good the setups usually leave something to be desired. This knife is set up perfectly.

And now Just received today 2/7/15 is this beauty. This is the full titanium version with hand satin finished blade. The original knife I purchased was impressive. Very impressive. So much so that it has been the ONLY knife I carry when leaving the house. This new version of the knife as you can see features full titanium for both the lock side as well as the front scale. New is also the crater pattern as well as the subtle blue anodizing. The blue is not a uniform intense blue but rather a subdued washed out blue that adds just the right amount of depth and texture to the almost moon like surface treatment. The handles appear to be thicker yet the weight difference is miminal considering the extreme cratering. The pocket clip position has been slightly tweaked to one side to facilitate a better in and out of pocket experience. The width increase makes its ride in the pocket ever so slightly more noticeable but its ability to fill the hand and provide an extremely comfortable grip is a welcome trade off. The blade has a very attractive hand rubbed satin finish. It appears to be a 600 grit finish which I find to be very attractive and an easily maintained finish with the proper supplies. The pattern is very straight and well done. Flipping action this knife is superb. The original knife had a stronger snappy detent but this one feels much more refined and while not as snappy seems smoother and less aggressive while still retaining the speed and reliability of the original. The edge on this knife is a toothy scary sharp. It provoked a "holy crap" when slicing phone book paper. The most impressive part though is that all this comes at a $10 premium over the G10 model. When I first saw that I thought it was a typo and placed my order praying they would honor the goof, lol. Then shortly after I found out that is in fact the price they are asking. It simply cant be beat. All in all I was very impressed with the original morrf and this one offers considerable upgrades for a minimal premium.

Oh, trust me I know. I all ready ordered the full Titanium Morrf with the blue handle and crater finish. Cant wait.

Looking forward to your opion as you compare the two. My preference would be for two sculpted titanium sides, in the same fashion the current lock-side is done, should they ever decide that build that configuration.

I wish they had made one like that too. What i am really surprised about though is the price. Its only $10 more than a g10 morrf but it is full ti, anodized and a hand satin blade. Dont get me wrong im not complaining but that seems like a ton of upgrades for a minimal price increase. Even more curious to me is just why the morrf is so cheap to begin with. It has comparable materials to other models they make yet it is by far the least expensive knife they offer.

The Designer's name costs too much when we talk about Konygin, for example. Muan is new name, but really potential, i suppose :)
Honestly, we gonna take $300-400 range in future for all our knives.

That's great news!

I thought that may have had something to do with it. I just didnt want to make assumptions. I am happy to get in on the morrf when i did. To me it is an amazing knife. I have got others since the morrf. But nothing has replaced it in edc tasks.

For those folks who wish to know...90 mm blade length is 3.54 inches.
Total length is 8.27 inches...
Looks like a nice knife...good write-up.

Only charging $10 for the handrubbed finish and Ti/CF presentation scales is ludicrous! I was really disappointed I didn't have the funds when the G10 models first were released, but I'm glad I waited. I picked up a CF scaled one at GPKnives, should be here Thursday!:D

Nice, can't wait to see your review of the knife.
