I have a CKF Sukhoi and one of the carbon fiber screws' head snapped off and I can't get the knife apart to replace the screw. To take the knife apart I need something hold down the pivot to prevent it from spinning.

On this knife there is carbon fiber scales which are screwed into the titanium and under that carbon fiber are the screws to tighten down the handles. Currently, the knife’s backspacer rattles because it is loose and when I started to take apart the knife one of the screw heads popped off. (see http://imgur.com/qCZDPUV). Now, I should be able to get the screw out and replace it but I cannot get the carbon fiber side off because the pivot is holding it down.

Since the pivot is not D-shaped, is loctited down, and the presentation side doesn’t have a torx head, it just spins on itself. Have you worked with these proprietary pivots before? If you have, do you have any recommendation on how to lock it down in order to break it loose from the loctite? I have tried everything from blade tension, to wrapping pliers in electrical tape, but nothing works.

Any suggestions would be amazing! A tool would be even better.

Someone had this exact problem before (with the Sukhoi), I suggest searching on here. He superglued the reverse side of the pivot to the handle and that worked.

Yeah, I got lucky with mine and was able to leave the pivot in place. The back spacer got loose and was rattling. Took the other screws out and 'slid' the scale out of the way.
I would be careful with super glue and try not to get it on the CF......might discolor.
I remember someone suggested placing the other side of the pivot on some type of non slip material, rubber, and apply pressure to the knife while turning the other side.
Good luck!
Joe
Good luck!

I'll have to give it a shot. I want to give it to a friend of mine and can't give it to him messed up.
