CJ and Gregg, Micro-Tech is a factory knife.
There fore it will not be discussed in this forum
Im happy that you think so highly of the knives. Rarity does not make a knife custom.
CJ, no I will not lighten up. The reason the other custom forum closed is that custom knife collectors did not bother posting in that forum. The reason, too many factory knives. CJ, stop trying to make your knives into something they are not.
Gregg, I have never sold you a Brend Knife. I sold you a White Wolf knife by Jim Ray, Walter ground the blade. No this is not a custom knife.
The Sebenza is not a custom knife. Chris Reeve has admitted that he no longer has any role in making the Sebenza. Subsequently, he was not allowed by the United States Knifemakers Guild to display said knives on his table at the most recent Guild Show in Las Vegas this past July.
Randall knives are not custom knives.
A custom knife is made primarily by one individual. True there are makers who have helpers. These individuals do things such as cut out blade blanks and drill holes. While I am not a knife maker, I can cut a piece of steel and drill holes. What you are paying a custom knife maker for is the precision fit and finish that goes into every hand made knife made.
Assembly of knives that have been completely created by a CNC machine or other such technology and then assembled similar to the way you would do a kit knife is not a custom knife. White Wolf, Micro-Tech, Paragon, and now Reeve Knives have taken maching to a new level. However, these are not custom knives.
Gregg and CJ, prove me wrong, have Micro-Tech submit a knife to the knifemakers guild. Of course 3 voting members will have to sign the paperwork for the maker to get in. Since Tony is not the maker, exactly who would be applying for membership as a custom knife maker? If they let him/her in I stand corrected.
There is a reason Micro-Tech is not in the Knifemakers Guild, its the same reason, White Wolf, Gerber, Buck, Benchmade, Spyderco, etc. are not in. They are not considered handmade knives.
Gregg, contact Mike Turber and ask him if you can run a Micro-Tech Forum as part of BladeForums. You are obviously passionate about this and your time would be better spent discussing micro-tech knives and other factory knives in that forum.
This will be the last time I address Micro-Tech or any other factory knives in this forum.
