I was wondering if anyone has had any custom work done on their kershaw knockout? I want at the very least detent added to mine so I can deassist it. Then I could get a scale for the non lock side.

I'm not positive about the detent but....these guys all do custom scales!

On blade forums there's:

rival customs (Keeth):

kryptoglow (Dan):

rvcustoms (Ryan):

"Keyman" (can't recall his name at the moment):

And off:

Tuffthumbz/tuff knives (Geoff)
Not paid dealer you'll have to look him up...

cuscadi (Luke)

Cuscadi is from Germany....and Philip Dobson isn't on BF....he has a site though (not a paying maker so no link:thumbdn:) and no problem! I'm glad to help!

Philip hasn't done any custom work in quite a long time. Last I heard, he was in Japan.

Well crap. It seems like such a simple thing to do for any knife maker, yet I can't find one :'(. I have contacted a few people and haven't had good news so far.

Probably the main reason is the assist (allot of the scale makers don't have the proper equipment involved in the milling)

Good luck!

Adding a detent to it is just a matter of drilling the hole and changing the ball if needed. Ten minute job for someone with the proper tools. I love this knife and it is my new edc, but I want to pimp it out so bad!

I was talking about the cut out that holds the torsion bar (it needs to be milled) but I guess sense you're going to de-assist it it doesn't really matter.....my bad haha!

Lol, no problem! I originally just wanted it completely acid and stonewashed, but rival wasn't sure how the aluminum would turn out so I didn't want to chance it. I figured I'd get a detent working so I can deassist it and have a custom G10 scale made for the non lock side. Easier said than done though.

Cool! You might want to mention the fact that they won't have to do the assist, it can scare some makers off haha and iv already said what I have to say about the scales, but there's a guy doing custom finishing work for a very good price: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1048516-Stonewash-Other-Finish-work

Hope it helps!

P.S
Also I accepted you're friend request!

Well I emailed/pm'ed a few people with no takers yet. I might just take a chance and see if the handles come out good after acid etching and stonewashing. Or I keep looking for an amazing deal on a used zt 0200 to send in to rival. I own no zt knives yet, but I really want a nice customized one.
