Hey guys, I'm somewhat new to BladeForums. I'd been using my old BK2 for a year now, and decided to get a new one to replace it. Along with it, I figured I'd treat myself to a custom kydex sheath. :) If you guys want any information on the sheath you'll have to message me because I'm pretty sure I can't post it here. Anywho thanks for looking!

Great looking sheath. Most of us can tell who made your sheath anyway, its a chestnut ridge. :D

So how do you like it? Does it retain well?

that looks like a chestnut ridge knife shop sheath. if so, they are a registered supplier here so I believe you can give them credit for the product.

It retains almost too much...I'm looking for a way to make it a little looser, but I think I'm just going to leave the knife in it for a while and that should make it easier to use. It's very similar to the LMF II sheath in terms of retention...Dangerously too much haha.

depending where the retention is at (i'm guessing at the throat, not the blade) you can wrap the area with masking tape, insert and heat with a gun, it should give a little.

I have one of those for my BK9 and my son has one for his BK7. Cut off a bit off the top and it is WAY more useful.

Here's a before...

Retention is great (after surgery) and the angle cut on top allows me to use my thumb to push the knife out of the sheath.

I did the same mod to my bk9 sheath but I also used a hacksaw blade to put gimping on the ramp. Other than that Chestnut did an amazing job.

Heat up with a hair dryer and pull knife out a little bit and let cool.
Worked for me.
Great buy.

great looking style and finish, but I dont understand why they put so much excess material up on the handle? Seems redundant to me.

I have the same sheath. Had it for a little over a year now and have put it through the ringer during that time and it has stood up the abuse and then some. Very happy with this product the only change that I would make is a better thumb push off point like GingivitisKahn modded his. I might add a tek-lok as well.
