While I think leather has a certain great quality, it's not as versatile as I'd prefer. I'm looking to upgrade a couple knives to kydex sheaths. I've seen a few companies out there that make them. Apparently Blade-tech used to do custom before they got big. Anyone have any info on who is making well priced good quality kydex sheaths these days? Rather then take a shot in the dark, I'm hoping to get some first hand accounts from people who have had them made. I've a Cold Steel Defender and a Reeve Project One. Both are dying to move into kydex homes. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Well, I don't have the pleasure of owning a Chiro75 sheath and have never done business with him, but I have taken a look at his page, and they are impressive. Plus, I have heard a LOT of great things around here about him and his sheaths. I don't think you could go wrong there, Devilmutt.
Also, just for the variety of it, you might contact Mike Sastre, River City sheaths, at, I think videosas@aol.com . I purchased a Spyderco Moran IWB/slip sheath from him, in Concealex, I believe, and am VERY impressed with it. Great fit, great finish, and a great guy to do business with. However, to the best of my knowledge, Mike does not use 'Chicago screws' in his sheaths, like Chiro75 does. So, you can't exactly take the sheath apart to clean out the inside. If that is important to you. Different strokes for different folks.

My vote for Frank Sigmon. I have several of his scabbards and they have stood the test of time. He also does good hybrids Kydex/nylon with inovative pockets and attachments.

Cheers,

Thanks for the info guys, does Frank use eyehole rivets in his work at all?

You can't go wrong with either our own Chiro 75 or Scott Hendryx. Chiro made me a sheath for a Kerver and Scott made me one for my Mountaineer 1......excellent work from both!!

Hats off to Chiro- He does super work.
Nice fellow to boot- can't go wrong.

I'll second the recommendation for Mike Sastre. I have several of his rigs, standard & custom, & I am pleased w/everyone.

Another maker you might want to consider is Allen Blade allenblade36@aol.com . He recently refinished a Bauchop for me & threw in a very nicely made crossdraw Concealex sheath.

Allen Blade has made a total of sixty two sheaths for me and is currently making one for my daily carry knife. He makes a high quality, reasonably priced sheath. I highly reccomend his work!
