I say again Heber, very nice work, just don't forget that the Revolver sheath gets to spend the summer/winter in Tenn. ! :D

Robbie Roberson ;)

Robbie don't worry, as soon as I get it finished and some pics taken, I'll send it to you.;)

Thanks! :D I'm glad you like it. Will look even better when it's finished. :D ;)

Heber

Heber, quit teasing us with those pics ! Just make sure you send it as soon as it dries, as a matter of fact, just wrap it in paper and send it wet :D it will be dry by the time it arrives.
I'll be waiting at the mail box like I did one time for Bobby Bs mail, I waited for 3 days without food and water because I thought I needed the survival experience, , what a rough few days, I still have scars from it. :p
Robbie Roberson ;)

Carl, you crack me up! LOL!! :D Not sure how I missed your post earlier. :footinmou. It might not be a SOG sheath, but I'm pretty sure the new owner will like it. If not, he will owe me a TigerShark! :D LOL!

Robbie, patiance my friend. There is no need to wait by the mail box and scare your carrier. :p You'll get it soon enough. ;)

Looking good, and getting better on every go-round. Look out world here comes the Wildman!!! :D

Here are two more pics for your enjoyment. :D

Thanks Robbie! :D They were a lot of fun to make. Hope you guys enjoy them as much as I have. BTW here are some better pics of the better pics of Rob's new sheath:

Right side showing the welt and belt loop:

Top with strap open - as you can see from the pic, the strap does not hinder drawing of the knife when open:

Top with strap snapped shut - strap was left long for better grip when opening it:

Heber, very nice work.
If you dont mind my saying so, and if you're not doing it already, you might want to try rubbing down the flesh side(fuzzy side) with gum tragacanth. Gives it a nice slick polished look and also adds a little stiffness. I put it on with my fingers and just rub it in on all flesh sides, even inside the sheath before I glue it closed. It pretty cheap from Tandy leather.
Again, hope you dont mind unsolicited advice, just so many people freely share info with me, I like to do it too.

Dave,

I've never heard of gum tragacanth. If you would, please feel free to post more and tell us about what it is and what it's all about. I'm certainly most interested.

wildmanh,

wow, those sheaths are looking FANTASTIC !!! and I gotta tell ya, your picture quality is mighty fine also.....

Cheers,

Carl

Hi Carl,
it's a substance used by leatherworkers to burnish the edges, you put a little along the edge with your finger and then rub the heck out of it with a bone slicker to get nice polished edges. Awhile back, Gary Graley told me he rubs it into the flesh sides of his sheaths for a really professional finished look, and he was right. It also prevents the inside of the sheath from fuzzing like the flesh side will do when something is continually rubbed against it.
It's available from Tandy leather and just about all the leather suppliers and it's cheap, about $4 for 4 oz. or $10 for a quart. I bought a quart quite awhile ago and still have some left so it is not an expensive item.
Hopefully if Gary or Sandy or Chuck read this they can add to it.

Hi guys, thanks a bunch for the nice comments and help. It's greatly apreciated. ;) :D. I've been busy this week since I started back to work after 3 months of not working. I am spending 3 weeks in training every weekday from 6:00am to 2:00pm. So I'm normally bushed in the evenings.

Lifter, great info. Thanks for shairing it. After I get some money I'll look into it. LOL.

Carl, your sheath,,,,,, well I've been lazy after work so it's not quite done yet. :o But it will be soon. ;) It's late, or early, LOL! So I'm off to bed. More later. Night all!

Heber

wildmanh,

glad to hear you're back working again.

And don't worry about the sheath not being done..... now you'll have time to work in a gallon or two of this gum tragacanth stuff that Dave is telling us about, and learn what it's all about !!

Cheers,

Carl
