Hey guys, I just wanted to show off the King's new pants!

I just got started trying my hand at leather work, this being my second project. The first was a mask for my CS Trail Hawk. I enjoyed the project so much I wanted to make a matching sheath for the King as well. I think it came out pretty damn good for a beginner! I made the dangler so that it can be opened up so I don't have to take my belt off to get it on.

Looks real good man!! Came out awesome for only the first couple times doing that! There are sheaths for sale on fleabay that don't look anywhere near that nice.

Second sheath. Really?! You must have a lot of patience, to execute a job that size and not mess something up.
Your stitching looks great and the edges are nice and even.
What color dye is that? very even.
Great sheath!

Thanks guys!

cschol, the dye is Fiebing's Oil Dye in dark brown. I'm not typically very patient, but I wanted this to come out looking good, so I forced myself not to rush it. There are a few blemishes here and there, but it was meant to be a practical item, not an artwork. The functionality came out EXACTLY how I wanted it, which to me is the important part.

I was messing around with kydex today, making a hybrid holster and rushed it a bit and trashed 15 dollars in kydex and ended up with a holster that I will tear apart and redo when I get the proper foam...but like you said it was for practice. only, mine was a fail.
I should stick to leather and leave the plastic to the kids.

Geektechnica, that looks very good for a first attempt (at a leather sheath). Your AR tendencies are showing through....It really does look great, the stitching (while I am certainly NOT an expert) looks machine made. Really impressive sheath.

Edit: Do I recognize that lanyard? It looks great with that setup. Hopefully serving you well.

Really impressive work! I've tried my hand at leather work twice and have failed miserably. :D
Congrats on an excellent first sheath.

Very nice job JP!

I really need to start making leather sheaths and stuff. I keep talking about making things out of leather but never do anything to get the ball rolling.

Can't wait to see what you make next!

Thanks for the compliments guys! I can't wait to get started on another project. Thinking a BK16 scout carry sheath.

I'm going to try to make some leather goodies to bring up to the next NE gathering, got any ideas?

If it's anything like the gathering at E's you could make a spare saddle and bridle, someone's always forgetting theirs for the pony games.

Calfskin undies? We could probably get Murph to come if you made some a$$less chaps....

With a matching coin purse and I'm there!
