Custom Leather Wrap on Rat Tail by Wally Hayes

I scored one of the unwrapped, olive drab brown coated Rat Tails from the last Extravaganza, and decided to have a custom leather wrap done on it. Who better to go to than the master Smith who collaborated with SRKW on the RT in the first place? Mr. Hayes was very nice and was happy to wrap it for me. A big thank you to him. Here is the finished product:

Niiiice. All of a sudden, I find myself wishing I had tried for a Rat Tail. Beautifully done work. I think the tan blade & leather looks better than the original black ones!

Japanese style leather wraps are AWESOME!
Ever since I bought my Paul Chen sword with a similar wrap in black leather, I've wondered why more makers don't do this. It looks great!

The leather is actually a very dark brown.
