Hey all I am Kieran new to this forum had the steel bug for several years though , just found the time was right to join up and further my knowledge .
I have a number of knives custom and production , spydercos are the bulk of the production pieces and I think all my customs are European ... been a while and I’m in possession of less brain cells these days , so a question for you guys .
Who the custom makers in NC and even SC that you would recommend , I’m looking to commission a folder similar to a matriarch/civilian but with differences any recommendations?.
I’m not set on makers in these states but thought it would be cool possibly to meet and collect if I can find someone .
Thanks looking forward to being part of your forum !.

Welcome, I hope you able to find what you are looking for.

You can try the custom makers forum.

North Carolina:
NCKnifeguild dot com

South Carolina:
SouthCarolinaAssociationofKnifemakers dot org

Both are within the first three links when I Googled "South Carolina Knife Makers Guild".

Best of luck, and welcome aboard.

Thanks ! Hoping to get some recommendations from folks who have either handled or commissioned .
I think getting some real feedback and some Q&A would help a lot with deciding wether to stick to my plan or just go with someone wherever they are .
Currently I am working on building new countertops , I have some white ash that I’m staining and cutting to size in between demo of the old countertop .
Once I’ve got the mess to a level that my lady is happy with I’ll post up some sketches and specs of what I have in mind .

Your best bet would be to look over the posted work of the guild members and find some of the better looking pieces and look them up individually.

If they are out of your price, or don't have a reputation that you appreciate, move down to the next three or four members.

Having names of makers that catch your eye readily available for research, will allow you to target your specific style, materials, or specifics that are important to you. Also, once you have some names, you can ask or search here for information on the maker.

Appreciate the suggestions , looking over the links at least in NC it looks
Like I will have to re think , some beautiful work but limited on folders.
I have looked via google etc before I posted this thread , but didn’t find anyone that was making anything close to what I have in mind.
Thanks again !
