Custom makers, what type of box do you send out your knives in?

From premium grade presentation gift box.
All the way to throwing them out in a greasy weed baggy Strider style.
What is your way, can you show pics of what your customer will see after he opens his or her delivery? I will have my new line of boxes and handmade saya for my kitchen knives next week. It made me curious how you guys send your goods out.
Regards, Aaron

Check out Rick Dunkerley's Instagram account. He was just building some hand engraved silver boxes with handmade hinges for some knives for a show. I would say that is pretty close to the top bar!

I ship em in very practical boxes. One they can use for years:

And people do use them:

My boxes fit exactly and so the knife doesn't rattle around:

Heck I even make boxes for other folks knives:

Seriously though, many years ago I did indeed research boxes but I decided not too, as I make entirely too many different size knives and sheaths and it would of been a nightmare having and keeping in stock that many different sizes of boxes. The cost would of been prohibitive too. Yes, you have to pass the cost on to the customer, you won't be in business long if you eat it. But I'd rather pass the cost of premium leather along than so so cardboard. My take.

Sounds super fancy I will head over and have a look.

Very nice sheaths, do you send those out inside the sheath in a packing box?

We ship the knife in the sheath, double bubble wrap around the handle, bubble wrap around the knife and sheath and then in a padded mailer. Of thousands we've only had one damaged by shipping which is why we started the double on the handle

I know what you mean, I spent 2 hours finding the perfect size boxes for my kitchen knives. For Honyaki it's expected to come with a wooden saya and slim box. So that's kind of the norm I have to model around.

Generally this box. But not always. Depends on the size knife

Recently I found a lady on Etsy who makes simple wooden boxes super cheap.

I like the wooden box idea, you could even slap some varnish on it to match the colour of the knife. I'll have a look I like the wooden box style makes it have a more rustic handmade feel.
