Can anyone point me in the direction of makers who license the Spyderco hole for their knives? I know that Jens Anso* and Kasper do, but who else?

Thanks.

*Anyone know of a place that tends to have Anso knives in stock? I would really like one of his folders without the wait. True North and Bob Neal don't seem to have his stuff.

Brian Tighe uses the hole opener for some of his models.

To answer your other question - no. I haven't seen any dealers recently with an Anso folder in stock and I've been looking.

Kevin Wilkins does it too.

Bob Lum has permission from Sal for the hole. He uses it in the Chinese Folder and the Folding Tanto.

The Crawfords (Pat & Wes) do. Mike Snody uses it on his custom Yojimbos (Michael Janich designed).

It might be easier to ask Sal directly. The list would be more accurate. I have heard a couple makers post in the past that they didn't get permission and decided to use it anyway. I believe those makers ahve since sought and received permission.

I think Sal used the names in some of his old advertizements.Thers are a lot of them.Maybe someone can check their old Blade magazines.

Sal and Spyderco are generous allowing their trademark round opening hole to be used by many. Contact Peter Jhones at Spyderco and he will send you a license agreement. There is a fifty dollar cost that covers recording fees. The big issue is just to acknowledge that it is Spyderco's trademark. All the guys that have collaborated with Spyderco generally have an agreement to use the round hole. There are probably more than 50 makers that have signed the agreement...Ed

How strong is Spyderco's trademark on the hole? .....it seems like it might make for a strong patent, but it seems to functional and generic for a strong trademark.

Blue Man, I could be worng on this(wouldn't be the first time I was wrong), I believe the patent has expired on the hole and they only have the trademark in force.
