Custom makers

Anyone want to reccomend custom makers to me? I mean people that make their own knives by hand when I say custom just to be clear! Not neccesarily one offs. Im intrested in getting into custom knives instead of mass produced blades and want to look at makers I may not have heard of. Im more intrested in classy modern folders, and modern shall I say "tactical" fixed blades but with class not mall ninja stuff I hate even the word tactical. Anyways thanks in advance I aprreciate it all.

There are also makers from South Africa you can look into such as Burger knives and Gareth Bull (a member here as well). Can also look at the South African Knifemakers Guild www.kgs.co.za for more knives. Some are available from retailers such as knifeart. Andre Thornburn comes to mind.
 
NickWheeler is on my short list. So's RyanW. Both fixed blade makers. And peter r for folders. I've got a WIP that Nick did bookmarked. And I get all my blades heat treated by Darrin Sanders, and he does a fantastic job with 1095 and 5160. Haven't really heavily tested the O1 blades he's done for me yet, but I wouldn't be surprised to find out that they're great. I bet he could make you a sweet knife as well. Figure out what you want, and there are plenty of great makers out there who can make your dream a reality.
 
I could make you pretty much anything you want. You can choose the design and materials. I can match the steel hardness and edge geometry to the main use of the knife to maximize its performance. I can also give you a price quote once I know more about what you're looking for.

I'd recommend one of the following three: Farid Mehr(he's in England), Joe Hoover and David Williamson of OTK(Ozark Tradition Knifeworks). I have custom blades from each and they are all wonderful craftsmen......as well and quality gentlemen to deal with.....truly topnotch!!

Agreed about David Williamson. He does fantastic work and communicates extremely well.
