Hey all, still relatively new to the forum, just finishing up my first knife (should be done today or tomorrow). I want to let you all know that if you folks ever need some maps of your future travels or maybe of ones that you've already finished I'd be more than happy to help out. I have a degree in Cartography and GIS and I love the bushman philosophy. I can print maps and images on all weather paper too. I'm sure most of you can or do this stuff already. Any questions please feel free to send me a PM or email. I'm just finishing up my website and I'll post some of my past works. Thanks for creating such a fun forum.

I'm heading to a new area to live that I have only really passed through up to this point. Some nice maps might be good... please keep us (me) posted! Welcome to WS&S! Prepare to learn!!!

I'd definately be interested.

My internet is so slow at home I can't print topos of some areas I'd like to have them of and the regular topos are huge.

Be sure to post a link to your website in the thread, or add it to your signature if you're not allowed to post about it directly. I'd be interested in checking it out, and finding out what your prices are like.

Whilst on the subject of maps it might be worth noting the “topomaps.kmz” file that can be loaded into Google Earth, or the “osmaps.kml” file from the Ordnance Survey if you are UK side.

Off the top of my head; other things one might want to have a play about with include:

GMapCatcher That'll let you download maps for offline use from a bunch of places. I've played about a bit with that.

Then there's OkMap, some free GPS mapping software that may be useful to someone here.

The new area I'm moving to is Moab, Utah. I landed a seasonal (for now ;)) position with Outward Bound at their southwest location. Training starts May 29th... cant wait!!

Will do, I had to reformat my hard drive....stupid SATA drive went corrupt some how. Anyways it should be done sometime this week. Thanks for the kind words

Please do post a link when your site is up.

Where's the envious smilie?

Yeah, I've been there once, just for a day, and did an 11 mile hike on some primitive trails through Canyonlands. I'm very excited to learn exactly how different my new desert terrain is from my old and busted tropical/pine.
