Thanks to all who've posted replies! This will give me a lot to think about. I've been away from the forum for quite awhile and I must say that I really like the changes and it's evolved nicely. Thanks again! Bob

I'm looking for any information on good quality custom neck knives under $175.

Hi,

When it comes to neck knives, Al Polkowski and Bud Nealy immediately come to my mind. Al offers quite a few models in your price range (Amigo, Hang Tight, Xr7, Kasper Gaunt, Neck Rat etc. etc.) as well as a few higher priced pieces. Bud's knives are usually over your range but I believe the mini Pesh Kabz is under $175.

Pat Crawford also offers a ton of neck knives that fall into your price range.

Aside from these...there are LOTS of options ranging from Japanese style cord-wraps to integrals...I recently had a thread about skeleton neck knives on the custom forum...perhaps you could get a few more ideas there.

Regards,
RL

Tom Mayo and Jerry Hossom also come to mind. Trace Rinaldi makes several nice neckers too.

These guys have some sweet skeletonized neck knives, and some come with thongs with mastadon and mammoth ivory beads braided in...

My votes is for Pat Crawford neck knife. I drooled over the pictures in a recent magazine for hours (actually I am drooling w/o just thinking about them).

Please email me, your email isnt listed. Thank you.

All of the knives and maker mentioned are excellent and you would be very happy with any of them I'm sure. I personally like Bud Nealy's Pesh kabz for a thin and easy to carry knife that is still a very serious blade. His MCS carry system is probably the most versatile one around. Al polkowski's work is also excellent, but frankly the bigger knives like the scorp and the CQ or so outstanding you're tempted to carry them as neckers too.
I would add Niel Blackwood to the list. they are a little heavier perhaps [than true neck knives, but not the Scorpion and CQ, obviously] but with the skeletonised handle it's pretty good and you get more belly than you usually get in a neck knife, which is great for utility purposes.

these all cost a little more than your stated price but worth it!

Simonich, Mayo, and Blackwood (talonite, stellite 6K, stellite 6K)

Like stellite/talonite as a blade material as they don't rust and they cut forever...

A few bucks (~20) over the given price range, but my favorite is Darrel Ralph's CF ArcLite. Mine is 1/8" D2M, 6 5/8+" OAL, 3" blade.
My neck knife search is over;)

Can't say enough about my Rinaldi Gambit, either, but it's a little big for neck carry, and is worn on the belt. 5/32" BG-42, 7 1/16" OAL, 3.4" blade. Trace can make them smaller, and it's right around the top of your price range.

That Sparrow Hawk above looks great, too! First pic I've seen of one.
