So I have owned a JK proud supporter knife for a while and realized I haven't customized it yet. I usually do this with my fixed blades even if its as simple as stripping the coating and adding a patina. So I decided it was time to make this one mine.

I used a half round file to make a fire steel striking area that also doubles as a choil to put my thumb in for more control. I then rounded the rest of the spine to make it more comfortable and the finished it off with a new patina on the blade. Nothing crazy but it makes it mine.:D:thumbup:

Please post pictures of any changes you have made on your to personalize them.

Nice fire steel notch Stainless!

Modding our knives makes 'em more appealing to us and therefore more likely to be carried and used.

I've modded my JKFFXL by shortening the tang and adding a bevel to it.
I wore it at my last job in the little side pocket in my coveralls and the tang would sometimes catch the edge of the opening of the machines I worked on while climbing in and out so I shortened it.

Then later I added the finger groves.

Somewhere along the line I blued the blade, but it's mostly worn off.

nice mods guys. i'll play :)

i added some jimping to my thumb ramp for a nice catchy grip and a sharpening choil on the bulldog. some time ago, i took advantage of Big Chris' reprofiling/grinding service. I've been wanting to try out one of his blades, but cant afford them, so having him regrind an already awesome blade was the next best thing. big chris thinned out the grind significantly, but left a nice mean, sharp as sh*t edge. between john's k-treet and chris' bevels, this is an amazing slicer that holds a great edge and is still robust enough to baton wood. it's definitely my favorite fixed and is mine all mine. :D

I've also sometimes sadned on the finisha little here and there as you might see, nothing as cool as you guys mods of course.

The firesteel notch if great thinking! While any portion of the edge would work having a notch is bound to give you more control of the shower of sparks.
