I am still saving up for a custom knife and now im looking for opinions

Ive narrowed it down to two choices, but am still very open to other options.

A hinderer firetac or a Yuna Hard1 are the frontrunners so far

Does anyone have experience with both these makers and can maybe layout the pros and cons about the makers and these knives.

And for all the rest of you who love to suggest knives..... I want it to be:

custom frame lock(not liner)
blade atleast 3.5"
Its gotta look nice as well as be strong (it will be used)
No G10 handles
Price - $500 or less but a little more is ok.

Between those two options I'm a lot more interested in the Yuna.

I've never handled either knife and I know nothing about either maker, but pretty much everything about the design of the Yuna I like more than the firetac.

It's not a custom but you can get a nice Chris Reeve Large Classic Sebenza with standard handles and a damascus blade $560.

i would prefer the hinderer or yuna to most any seb on earth myself, i like both and intend to get a yuna pretty soon, am sure i will eventually get a hinderer too.

& yes i have a seb or 2 lol.

i really like the yuna designs and the hinderer is a great knife which is imho very suited for edc use.

Both ARE excellent knives!! I have owned a Firetac in the past, and currently own a Yuna Hard 3. The Firetac IS going to be hard to find, and Rick isn't taking any orders currently. Both are top notch knives. My Hard 3 is knife perfection, as far as I am concerned.

That Yuna is one interesting knife. TKC, what are the specs on yours, btw, it is extremely nice as are all the knives you collect and:thumbup: show!

I had a early Yuna Zen, the fit was not on par with my other customs. BUT.......I have heard his fit and finish is much better now. If TKC says its "perfection", than I can only believe he is right up their with all the other high profile makers. One big plus with a Yuna, is that ZDP steel option.

Ricks work is great. I don't think you could go wrong with either. I do like the looks of a Hard 1 better than the Firetac. And I like a XM-18 spanto over both of them.

Interestingly, Yuna does not use CNC at all, he crafts his blades by hand, and workshop tools, hacksaws, files etc.
