I recently picked up an old puukko and am enjoying it as a rotation in my EDC lineup, but I think I want to pick up a nicer one from a custom maker. I'd prefer to support someone here on the forum, and am looking for suggestions on who in the BF community is doing cool puukko patterns. I'm open too any design styles really, I just want something really well done from a skilled craftsman that is also a workhorse of a user.

As others have mentioned - Malanika.

Also Riverside Forge - Marko3.

Jani Ryynänen, mostly 80CrV2 at 60 HRC. Sized for bigger hands.

Pasi Hurttila, both 80CrV2 and K510, if you menage to get one second hand, since he has stopped making knives.

I'm a big fan. I had one in the Böhler K510 I do regret trading away. Good guy, good knives.

I'm kind of surprised no one has mentioned Pekka Tuominen. I've been using one of his puukkos off and on for several years with great satisfaction.

Danjiel is the only puukko maker active on Bladeforums, if the OP wants the puukko to be made in Finland he will have to buy from outside the community.

I love all the ones posted. It doesn't have to be made outside the US, I'm really open to anything.

Jukka Hankala, one of the seven -- only seven -- puukkoseppämestari, or master puukko makers of Finland.

My picture is not worthy of his work.

That's the problem, no one in the US is making a truly"authentic" Puukko

Honestly, here in the US the market and culture is more focused on knives with guards, full width tangs, sheaths with thick welts, thicker blades and flat or saber grinds.

just remember, a Puukko is a knife but not all knives are Puukkos
