Very nice, raises the Raven to an even higher ground!

Please tell us some more of the actual steps to fix this, the liners are nested in the G-10 (??) aren't they?

Great work!

Thanks!
Yes the liners are inletted into the scales, so I had to rout out that area with a Dremel bit that looks alot like an end mill.
I started by scribing the outline of the scales onto the Micarta sheet, then carefully removed material from the pocket until I had a good fit. Then I back drilled through the liners, did the counter sinks and profiling, and finaly bead blasting.

My next project is to put CF scales and maybe Ti bolsters on a BM CQC7.

Thanks again for the encouragment.
Tony

Hi!

Thanx for sharing the information on how it was done.
So it's micarta scales! makes it even better, i'm impressed.
Was it difficult and how long time did it take??

And please, when you get that '7 done, show it to us, i'd love a bolstered 7!!.

2Sharp,

I think Micarta is pretty easy to work with, in spite of the dust. It's awesome material!
That project took me about a weeks time. It would have been simple with some good machine tools but a Dremel is pretty versatile.

What material do you think would make a good bolster with CF scales?

Thanks again,
Tony

Jonas; titanium is though as he*l. A lot harder than steel to work with IMO.
Just FYI. However as you live in Sweden like I do I´d like to give you a tip about Nordell knives ( www.nordellknives.com )
Ingemar Nordell has a great supply of handle materials (and everything else that a knifemaker could ever dream of) that you can experiment with and the prices are good so that one can allow oneself to try out some wild ideas.

Hey Pelle!

Hm, i was under the impression that ti wasn't hard as hardened steel but as you say, though.
I was thinking that it's not as hard to work in as hardened steel but most probably it will taking a lot of time.

i guess i'm rambling now...

Anyway, i would still like to see a ti bolstered '7
