There are a number of custom knife makers that have used Remington knives as a way to carry
the design originally produced for Remington Arms into to the realm of the custom knife. I'll start the
conversation with a Keith Johnson replica of 1306 4.5" lock back. It's not completely true to the
original with the addition of a swedge, flute, double bomb shield and micarta covers vs. stag. But a
good starting point for people who as I love these old designs. Custom sheath by Mike "Doc" Barranti
from Pennsylvania.

Are the joints flush with the bolsters on that one? (I'm thinking they're not with the pivot end rounded as it is.)

Love the scales. I like the rugged durability of micarta, and I figure that the old time knife manufacturers would definitely have used it if they had had access to it. When I do eventually have a custom made, I'll start with a large Trapper/Hunter pattern, like the R1123's or the two-blade Hunter types.

I have a reproduction Remington #R1123 that Camillus made for Bowen Arms back in the early 80's. The best feature (IMHO) is the flush joints.

Awesome lockback Jeff!!

Here's one Ken Erickson made for me. Based of a Remington Serpentine Jack but with a different blade grind and without the lined bolsters. It's 3 7/8" closed with CPM154 for the blades and ebony for the covers. He also a made the green-flannel lined pigskin pouch for the knife.

Hi Chris, it's not a flush joint, still a beautiful piece! BTW, Keith is making me an Baby Bullet 1173, with a Wharncliff blade in place of the spey!

I saw that one, or one similar, several months ago on Keith's FB account. I really like it.

I still kick myself for not selling a few knives so I could get an Ohta R1306 replica, I believe it had either micarta, or osage orange scales. It was a slipjoint rather than a lockback. I've had a few 1303 and 1306 models from the Camillus 80's/90's run, but would love to find an original 1306. My favorite knife company is the old Remington. I've found a few golden oldies, in good condition, and based on their construction alone, Remington seems to be the best, or at least in the top three, best knife companies ever.
