OK, so this is my first set of scales. They are not nearly as nice as I had envisioned, as is probably the case with most people's first project like this. I am just glad I got them to fit. I would like to get some new bolts with t6 heads to match the others, but for now, this is what the hardware store had in stock. I had a hard time getting everything to fit right, since I did all of this work with a power drill, a dremmel, an orbital sander, and a few other hand tools. The hard parts would definitely have to be getting the cut right to inlay the nuts into the handle. They are epoxied in place for safe measure. The other part was carving out the area for the axis lock spring play as you can see with the one in the vice. All said and done, I have the blade and lock action smoother now than it was with the stock scales. And if you're curious, the handle material I think is called Kirinite. I bought it from a knife hardware website which I can't remember the name of. Next step may be to knurl them for a little grip. What do you guys think?

There's a lot of krinite I just don't like but that color/pattern looks really good. Nice work too.

Do you have any progress pics of you milling out the spots for the omega springs?

No, I was kind of in a hurry to finish after finishing the spring milling. It was one of the last things I did before the finish sanding. I milled it with about a 1/8th inch dremmel head. I just pushed the end of the head in to keep it as flat as possible and milled about 1/16 of an inch deep, a little at a time, and finished with an 80 grit sandpaper on the tip of my finger to smooth it a little.
