no one seems to be minding my first thread over at repair/maintenance. my question is, is it possible to intall a custom scale on the framelock side of a folder? this will, in effect, convert the framelock into a sturdy liner lock. my biggest complaint with framelocks is the asymetrical grip one gets. it feels weird to me.

i've a feeling it depends a lot on the make of the folder. thanks.

Yes it is possible, but depending on the knife, would make for a handfull! Are you left handed by chance? I have noticed when using my knives in my off hand (left) the lock and such feels funny. If so, I have seen a few left handed ones by custom makers out there.

thanks. i'm right-handed, and when i hold the knife edge-down, it's the forefinger and palm that presses on the framelock side --that is to say there's hardly anything there. on the scale side, it's just the thumb that really "appreciates" the furniture. in fact, it's better to grip the knife edge-up.
