This is a pair of knives that I worked with Mike to design and have built. The handles are Giraffe Bone and the bolsters are copper with a patina. He also made a piggyback style sheath for the two knives. I've wanted a set like this for a while for camping and hunting, and finally got around to having them made. These are the pictures he sent me for final approval, but I'll post a couple more when I get my hands on them.

Very nice!

I've never seen giraffe bone look so good! And the copper was a unique touch as well.

Thanks for sharing with us!

Great looking set. Just out of curiosity...why did you go with a recurve on the large blade?

Great looking set. Just out of curiosity...why did you go with a recurve on the large blade?

The set will mostly be used for hunting and camping/backpacking, so I wanted the larger knife to be good for both slicing (food while camping and skinning) and chopping (clearing firing line from tree stand, clearing small brush, smaller chopping tasks). The recurve makes it good for both of these functions. It may be a little difficult to sharpen, but with an Edge Pro, it's not too bad.

Thanks for the nods everyone. I can't wait to get them out in the field.

I agree with Anthony but the color is natural so it looks good, IMO. The sheath is a nice way to carry them. You can probably stick with the "hunter" for all your slicing needs. The "camp" looks like a good chopper, I like the recurve. Nice score, congrats.

Nice. The knives were obviously made as and look like a set.
Nice Giraffe Bone too.
Don't know why it gets such a bad rap.

Giraffe bone is a very good choice in handle material for knives that are going to be used. It is one of the most durable natural materials.

Those knives look good.

Because really nice stag is the same price? :)

While I certainly appreciate a nice stag handle, I prefer the giraffe bone for knives that I will use a lot. Especially for this set where the smaller knife nests in the same sheath as the larger one. Stag just didn't seem practical.

Mike certainly does excellent work. I've bought more than a few of his knives and use them frequently. It's a shame that he is too busy with work to take any orders right now.

I have one of Mikes knives and love it myself. My very first post on this board was me talking about the knife and I got labeled a troll right off the bat. Noone had heard of him, so I was an instant troll. :D I love the knife and hope to order a more "upmarket" knife from him in the future. I love your set, corgrats!
