A fellow tomahawk forum member asked me to build him a custom rawhide covered sheath for his Frontier hawk. Rawhide over 10 oz veggietan, Black Bear claw closer and Mammoth ivory beads on the tie. Dyed in a few coats of light brown Fiebings. It's on a pipehawk cause my frontier is away on holidays :D Hope you enjoy. Sorry for the sideways pics.

Best regards

Thanks Mike. I enjoy making rawhide sheaths, they are a lot of extra work but this one turned out looking good IMO. ;-))

Very nice work Robin, keep posting the pics. I enjoy them very much and learn something each time. Like the tip about using the opposite side of the rawhide.

Thanks Loosearrow

That is some very fine looking leahter work. Really like the finish, the color and the added decorative pieces...........Great job !

Is that a real bear claw ? Very good work on the sheath as always.

Hey there Edwood
Yes, it's a Black Bear claw. Sadly, people around here shoot Bears for no real reason :( some folks hunt and eat them but many shoot them for just being around. Bears are my favourite animal and I have a very good relationship with the ones who frequently visit our land. I get quite a few claws from both types of "hunters" and I figure by using them to make pieces look more beautiful (in my opinion)))) that I give their death at least some meaning.
Keep safe my friend.

Best regards

Robin

We once had black bear down here in Baja Mexico. They are all gone now. Iv never seen a real bear claw, so that’s way I was asking. That claw does set that sheath apart. Very beautiful.
