Custom sheath: Large or Small Tek Lok?

I'm having a custom kydex sheath made for a 4.5" fixed blade for horizontal carry at 11:00. The maker can make the sheath to fit either a large or small Tek Lok. I already have one of each and can't really see any advantage to the larger model other than it would fit on a duty belt I suppose. It's also also wider, taller and thicker which will make it less comfortable for carry.

Any reason to go with the larger pattern over the small?

You figured it right.
The real bonus with a large is that
it slips into varying widths...
But yeah, it adds bulk somewhat.

Have him space the holes at 3/4" so you can have the option of either. Eyelets are cheap.

The large is adjustable no? I'm not a huge tek-lok fan. Too bulky for me most of the time. I mostly use a spyderco g-clip. I also use the various esee clip plates. As said above, have him space the eyelets to give you the most options. Then when you get the sheath you can find what work best for you.

Where on your belt do you carry the knife? I've found that with the ESEE 3 and large Tek Lok, it's too bulky to be comfortable vertical at 11:00.

This has come to be called "CM Carry" ... Not by me.

I prefer the large just because they feel more sturdy. If I want to go smaller I just get a GClip from Spyderco. My belts tends to be thicker and wider sometimes, and I like that the large has that little safety latch just incase. I've never had an issue with the small though..

Id go with a large for sure.

Heres a large on a SEAL Pup...
