Hi.
I recently bought an Entrek Ranger and I love the knife, but the sheath is just to thin, flimsy, and noisy for me. I'd like to upgrade to a nice leather sheath and was wondering who I should contact.
As of right now I'm most interested in a marine style sheath, like a Randall, but I'd be open to suggestions. I want a user, not a show piece, nothing fancy. I really like the look and feel of the Randalls, but the nicest sheath I ever held was claimed to be made out of ox hide. It was very thick and tough but also had a great feel and a gorgeous pantina. If anyone has any info or experience with this material, please let me know.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Two words: Kenny Rowe.

He makes some of the nicest leather sheaths out there. As simple as you like, or as fancy as can be. Give him a call. (870) 777-8216

I'm willing to bet it was water buffalo not OX. And what kind of a name is WombSlider? Is that the best you could do in a pinch? I know names are hard to come up with but that one really sucks in my opinion. WombSlider. Get real first timer. Oh, and welcome to the forums. He he. You can call me peckerhead.

Hey, uh, Max. I don't know if you're kidding or what, so I'll try and be polite. I apologize if you don't see the humor in originality. I guess I just don't see the hippness in mangling a song title so I can conform to a predetermined definition of what makes a good username.
Was "Jimmy be Good" or "Luke of Earl" taken? Gimme a break.

Lifter, I'll bet G2 would do fixed blade sheaths if properly motivated. Perhaps if the knife had a Warncliffe blade? :)

Totally kidding WombSlider. You were supposed to give me grief about my username. Then, we'd be even see? Also, the recommendations given so far are all good ones. I have one to add. I know a really fine leather man on the east coast. He's also a knife maker. His name is Michael Moore and he does fantastic work! Here's his email address: moore61@gateway.net

Good luck with your sheath dude.

Danbo, I wish he would. According to Gary, not for money or begging. For some reason he dislikes making them. Ok Gary, if you read this, chime in.

Well kind of a chime, but Lifter is correct as I just focus on folder sheaths and leave the fixed blades to those that make them all the time, Sandy Morrissey is Excellent! Kenny Rowe one of the Tops in the biz and Chris Kravitts who recently joined up here on Blade Forums is also a talented LeatherSmith. I've made them on occasion but have since declined to take any orders for the fixed blade knives, sorry guys! :(

"Luke of Earl", very funny, but if you REALLY wanted to be clever wouldn't the nick be WombRaider? :)

BTW I'm a big fan of Kenny Rowe as well.
