I need a sheath for the 'Benchmade' Heckler und Koch large fixed knife.
As seen here:

Found here: http://www.benchmade.com/products/product_detail.aspx?model=14150

It needs to be affordable, open, secure and durable.

I just don't want the sheath to snap in my pocket or for the knife to fall out while running or rolling or jumping. All within reasonable limits, respectively.

I will apreciate any assistance forthcoming.

Thank you,

GM

I've tried Survival sheath before, but he didn't have my knife on his list for his concealex belt sheaths.

The Survival sheath System is looking very interesting to me now. It is a pain to send anything out of this country (Australia). I either have to complete some paper tedious paper work or "accidentally" mislabel the box, eg "cutting tool".

The other thing is, sending the knife through express will cost as much as buying the sheath. While sending it through the normal post will take months.

Thank you Australia, thank you very much! Especially its postal service.

(when I say 'thank', I mean something else that forum policies will not allow).

Either sheath is going to be a pain in the ass, short term or long term. I prefer the short term, but I then risk having the knife lost. Maybe I should insure it.

So I'll send that knife in and get the Concealex Belt sheath. I'll tell the postal workers that it is a cutting tool and to insure it. Then I'll just have to be very patient.

Thanks.

Now for the survival sheath at Robert's site.

I hope I won't have to send my knife in for it. Doesn't look like it though.

Which sheath is better in my circumstance? The original problem with my original sheath was that the strap gets frayed from use, the serrated edge doesn't help. But it does help alot with dragging the knife through flesh - I have tested it on beef carcass, one of my friends works as a butcher.

I just hope that the strap will stay out of the way when the knife is drawn from its sheath.

The small 'Survival sheath" is what I will choose.
From what I can see, the strap is held by velcro.
The original sheath (for my knife) features a clip/button, if you get my meaning. This causes scratching and markings to occur on the grip.

A problem with this kind of sheath is that it is too big and has all or these features that I don't need.
The original HK knife sheaf is 7 inches from the start of the kydex within the nylon and 8 inches from the top of the strap down to its end.

Thanks,

Grosse Messer.

For your sheath try eric. His screen neme here is normark. Quality work, good guy to do business with.

Just a thought, but instead of shipping your knife to Canada (for Normark) or to the states, maybe post on the "wanted to buy" forums here, asking if you could borrow someone's HK14150 for a week or so.

Find one in the right country, pay to have it shipped to and from the sheathmaker, and give the person that owns the knife a couple bucks. That way the sheathmaker gets the knife quickly, there aren't any worries about shipping a knife across country borders, and it'll probably be a lot cheaper than shipping a knife from Australia to north america.

That said, Normark has an excellent reputation on these forums, and I've never heard of anyone ever being disappointed with one of his sheaths. If I had to have something made, I'd choose him (now, being in the same county helps a little, but the reputation for quality work is what matters).

Thank you Eric 'Normark'. The prices of your sheaths are quite good, I was relieved when I saw the prices in the $30 range.

I could just go along with my plan - send the knife now, in a box labeled "cutting tool" and it should arrive in canada in 2 months or a month and a half (if I'm lucky). And I'll ensure it, I think it costs something like $5-10.
Total shipping cost will be $15 approx.

or

Go for "The Mac's" proposition, I'm not entirely sure how I should word such a request.

Should it be something like:

Title: Benchmade HK large fixed blade, need to borrow one within north America.

Message:
I need to send a Benchmade "HK large fixed" knife to a custom sheath maker in Canada, as there are too many complications sending a knife in from Australia...

Then I'd add some extra info, such as the sheath maker's details as well as my own.

I'd rather my option.

Thanks,

Grosse Messer.
