Well, I recently received my Custom Shop 112. Overall, I’m happy with it. Compared to my auto 112 and other Custom Shop 112, the blade is stubbier and I’m ok with it. The bolsters have a taper to them instead of block like, they are thinner at both ends compared to the other two. Probably because the thickness of the elk bark which is awesome and just the right thickness…it follows the shape of the bark and is “not uniform”, it doesn’t bother me and I find it is unique and has character.

My disappointment is probably cosmetic, but if I drop the blade with a snap, it does show evidence that the tip edge is rolling and the spring holder is getting marked. Some say it’s design and ok, I buy it. I still have a little movement of the blade before the blade stops, less than the others. I feel that the “kick” was ground to much, the blade sits pretty low. Am I expecting to much? I could cut a piece of para cord and stuff it on top of the spring to raise the blade when shut.

The pics show tip and how the blade sits when closed and where I think it should sit held by thumb pressure. I have no trouble sharpening it out, I’m just OCD about the blade closed position.

Please let me know your order number through a private message and I will get a call tag to get that fixed or rebuild you a new knife. No the blade should not be hitting the spring holder. If you compress the knife when it is already closed it will hit the spring holder and cause the roll but should not when jut closing the knife.

I really like how different it feels compared to my other 112. Poor comparison since the other has finger grooves. I really like the “palm” swell on the elk handle. The right side scale just “fits” in my hand.

Just received the replacement knife. As much as I liked the scales on the original, Buck sent this one. My new 112 has “better” bark, the blade is perfect, solid lock up and is exactly what I wanted. I’m definitely pleased and would not hesitate to work with Buck again, they will make it right and take care of you! IMG_9003.jpegIMG_9002.jpegIMG_9004.jpeg
