I was playing around with the custom knife designer at the Buck website and I noticed rivets are an option. Do the rivets add durability to the construction?

Thanks,
Eric

They glue the scales on,many custom 110s do not have them..I would say its more of a queston of taste...On some materials it is felt they might cause cracks/spiliting

I am kinda weird (no surprise there), I like rivets on wood scales, but not on horn or bone.

I like rivets on everything......I think they (three rivets) add an old-fashioned and authentic look.

If they came with four like the modern Wal-Mart 110s.....I'd go plain.

I'll risk the possibility of cracks.

...I actually agree with ya roc...:eek:...I also prefer the 3 rivet look over the four rivets...:p

Rivets dont do much but add to the desired "look"

I prefer them rivetless ;)

if'n it be a 111 or 110 i likes 'em both!!!
now dem dang small 112's ... well i guess dey is alright too...

I prefer rivets on my 110's.The only crack that I've had develope on a 110 handle was a rivetless elkhorn, that Buck replaced.
