Custom Shop 110 with a Ram's Horn handle on a "working" knife?

I've read that while a beautiful handle Ram's horn isn't the best "out in the field" due to it absorbing water and warping. This is general with any Ram's horn knife and not specific about Buck's custom shop knives. Anyone out there have any experiance with a ram's horn handle? If I use it out in the field it will get wet, perhaps for extended periods of time even. Would buffalo horn be a better handle for a field knife? I've got a CS with walnut on the way but was thinking of gifting it and getting me another with a "horn" handle. Thanks!

I've never heard of such a problem and I wouldn't be concerned about ANY of Buck's knives in that respect.

When things get wet you need to dry them (naturally, not with an application of strong heat) and lightly oil them. Don't forget to use the same tender care for the sheath. Leather needs lube every so often, too.

It's always good to call and talk to them in person when you order a Custom, so you should ask them at that time (along with any other questions or special requests on your knife).
