How does the custom shop work. Can you just call and put in a custom order. Or is it just they have available. When I went on the site I saw to bear cubs is that all they have. I e-mailed to ask specs and price and haven't received a e-mail back. So how does it work.

The skinny. There are 3 main options.

All 3 involve Garth... Garth@bussecombat.com

1. If you know the blade you want or maybe have a few different ones you are interested in you E-mail him and he will let you know if there are any old blanks laying around for them. Lets say you want a Jackhammer. You email him...maybe you get lucky and he tells you that he has a blank available. I believe you will be charged whatever the price of a Jackhammer LE was when it was in production . ( This might get a bit iffy on older models since they were so much cheaper back in the day. ) Best, cheapest option.

2. You are dead set on a model that there is no blank for..... You get charged a premium since it needs to be made from scratch.

3. You custom design your own blade and if its approved its made at 100 bucks an inch.

Here you go, straight from the Hogs mouth so to speak....

Robert,

The custom shop has a few different angles to get a knife to you. First, and most economical is that if you are interested in something that we still have blanks for then you just tell me what you want and we make it. The second option is to remake an old model from scratch. This depends on if we have the steel stock available for the blade. This demands a premium price as we no longer have tooing to cut the blanks i.e AK47. The third possibilty is a true custom knife. Made to your design and specs, pending approval from Jerry. These true custom run $100 per inch of overall length. Final option would be if you were to find a old model and it doesn't have the finish or handles that you want, we can modify it for you. For example if you found an AK47 and purchesed it but you wanted it satin finished we could strip it and grind it down to a satin finish. I hope this clears it up a bit for you. If you have any other questions just let me know. I do get pretty busy so if I do not answer right away just give me a bit of time and I will get back to you.

Thanks
Garth

And Garth does get damn busy but he will ALWAYS get back to you. Patience is key here.

Hope this helped,

Rob

I think I've sent four emails over the years. Last one was probably three years ago. Still not a single reply but being patient. I'm sure it'll come in two weeks. :)

I would be happy to help out. I have scoured my email and have no request for specs on the bear cubs. If you would like to send me your email address or phone number I would be happy to discuss it with you. Or feel free to call the shop and one of the girls in the office will take care of you.
