The concept/idea of the 2 hand shaped hand ground Custom Shop M6's from Busse/Swamp Rat came about after many a fingers of Johnny Walker Blue and many GREAT stogies!
I attended Blade East 2007, the largest knife show in the country. After the show and dinner on Saturday night, we tucked in MOST of the women (kept the fun ones around) and started in on the scotch and stogies. Lots and lots of ideas and "what ifs" had been thrown around by the 6 or 8 of us "hardcores" that had made it thru till 3 a.m. and thru the third or fourth jug!
I had been asked for a quick snap answer to what I would like if I were to make up a two knife set of Swamp Rats.
The first thing I said was that I would have Jerry HAND SHAPE and totally HAND MAKE them and one would need to have serrations and have a utility spine.
The other would be standard shape but.....hand shaped! And of course hand shaped magnum handles on both!
There was some ribbing about Busse being too big and fancy for such small personal projects and after that things started to get a little blurry and I headed for bed. I ended up in the right room/right bed thanks to a good buddy, a retired Command Sergeant Major 1st Special Forces Group, that I had gone thru jump school with 20 sum ought yrs earlier! LOL!!
I returned home to my wonderful life and business as usual. A few weeks later a package showed up unmarked other than my addy, no return addy, no paper work inside, just the two hand shaped M6's that had been fantasized by a couple of "Johnny Walkerized " individuals on that memorable night!!
Im glad these two are going to do the job they were meant to do! Remember...dont over think it, let the training take over and God speed!
