So, I placed an order with bucks custom shop yesterday (110fg, brass bolsters, polished 420 blade with riveted rams horn handle) and since this is my first ever custom piece (from any maker) I want to know what I can expect. I currently own the 2014 110 which sparked my recent interest/obsession which caused a 119blk to be on the way and now my custom (in about the span of a month). I've collected randomly for years but am now in a place where my collection can focus on and appreciate the finer blades and brands previously to expensive to even have been a thought. Any background or history about the custom shop is appreciated as I am new to both the forum and to Buck.

Thanks

If you like the factory 110 you'll love your custom. What you ordered is what I want! except nickel bolsters.. Post pics when you get it please, looking forward to seeing it.

Just read/responded to you in another post! Lol-i can't wait to receive it and will definitely post some pics

Welcome to the forum AJ.

I built your knife, http://www.buckknives.com/index.cfm?event=customKnife.build, and it is a beauty. I've never built a custom Buck using a mirrored blade. I always opt for the S30V blade steel. Is it for display? Because it looks like a real show piece even online. I don't have any ram's horn but I've always really enjoyed looking at it. Next time. Getting a sheath?

Thanks! I thought about the S30V but the shimmer of the polished 420hc was calling me. This knife will be a gentleman's folder of sorts that can actually get the job done if needed. I want to show it off with the knowing it was built for me, something you don't get with a normal production folder. I have maybe one or two in my collection that have mixed bone/horn handles but nothing this pure. Hope the scales are robust. I kinda rushed it at the end of my order and forgot to opt for a leather sheath, so I'm getting the default nylon one. No biggie though, I can always swap it with my '14 110's anniversarys black sheath. If I could do it again I think I would have picked a brown sheath though.

Lol, it's really no big deal. Hope it doesn't take the 4 to 6 weeks quoted for delivery...

The brown leather sheaths are my choice also. I betcha a phone call to the store would have them easily add a sheath to the order. They aim to please. I had dinner with the store manager and she is a peach. 1 ‪(800) 326-2825‬

ITE now that is a beautiful 110 you have pictured there. I need to get me one of those coming I guess.

Im AJ post a picture when you get it so all of us can see the different look between the knife with nickel bolsters and brass bolsters.

It will be a fantastic looking knife. The one in these photo's has a Brass frame with Rams horn, I like the color match (Ram/brass).

JB, Love that 112 you have... Sweet...

Nice 110 too... The Brass looks good on it...

Thanks Armand, I love your pair of Rammy 110s! Can you do a side by side shot so we can see the pair together? I'd like to see the FG and non-FG in the same shot. Just a random thought, I'd love to have one of your NK frame Rammy's with one of the AG gloss black coated S30V blades;)

John, here you go, my pair of rammy 110's... That would be cool, a rammy with a AG S30V blade...

Rammy's ...

:)

I'm not going to sweat the sheath for now as I'm focused on getting my custom "ramy" but you guys are awesome and those pictures have me drooling. Lol

Resolution: I am never buying another knife. Uh uh. I'll simple print out color copies of the ram's horn custom 110s shown above and keep them with me at all times. That should work. Paper does cut don't you know. Dang it those are beauties. WOW!

I'll use the good camera too!-doesn't the ram in the pics above look jigged? Not in all of them but a few definitely look tooled...
