I'm going to be ordering a couple knives form the custom shop pretty soon. I was wondering if anybody here has pictures of a 110 with brass and oak, brass and walnut and brass and elk horn. Those are the three I plan on ordering. No rivets and no fingergrooves. I'm a very happy Buck customer and have several Buck's in my collection. I love the 110 style. I've never had a problem with Bucks steel so my other question is, is the S30V worth it? My final question is, will the Elk horn smooth and age over time or is it sealed in some way? Thank you in advance for any help.

Brass and Oak for ya.

sitflyer, thanks for the suggestion. I actually read through that thread before I posted.
A.P.F. Thank you very much. That looks awesome.

You are welcome, Tex.

As for S30V, when it is properly heat treated, it is a fantastic steel that was actually developed specifically for knives. Buck's S30V gets a Paul Bos recipe heat treat, so it is safe to assume that it is one of the best heat treats in the business. In practice, Buck's S30V holds a sharp edge for a long time. As well, it has excellent wear resistance and good toughness.

As you may have guessed, I am rather fond of S30V as for me in general, it has most of the qualities I look for in a knife steel. I think that it is worth the price for an upgrade.

As for the Elk horn, I have seen no evidence of any sealer on it, so you can expect that as a 'living' material, it will mature nicely through handling. It does however, hate water.

By hating water do you mean it will get completely messed up if it gets wet? What happens?
